Even a team with legitimate post-season aspirations has to keep an eye half-peeled on 2017. After a slow April start, Matt Wieters (C, BAL) has come alive, raising his BA from .214 at the end of that month to .274 now, and hitting eight HR in the process. Wieters' power metrics still speak to his above-average power, and his plate skills (8% bb%, 77% ct%) are both representative of past performances and better than most catchers. And his 201 AB to date have Wieters in line for his first 260+ season since 2013—which points to his biggest issue and uncertainty going forward. The 30-year-old Wieters has an F Health grade, a one-year contract, agent Scott Boras and plenty to prove over these next three months to any club...
