The arrival of Freddy Galvis (SS, TOR) in Toronto may have all sorts of implications for Lourdes Gurriel (SS, TOR) and Devon Travis (2B, TOR). While one may get to be the Blue Jays’ starting second baseman, the other may have to learn a new position—or bide his time in the minors to open the season.

While Gurriel had an ungodly July, which propped up his overall offensive totals, his defense at both middle infield positions left something to be desired. At least initially, it sounds like the plan is for Galvis to be a majority-time player at shortstop, providing a steady glove behind what, on paper, looks to be an iffy starting rotation.
