As has been discussed in this space previously, the headliner among Tampa Bay’s September call-ups figures to be veteran starter Alex Cobb (RHP, TAM) who completed his rehabilitation work with by going four innings for Triple-A Durham Aug. 27, yielding one run on a home run and five hits overall while walking none and striking out one.

Cobb’s performance was markedly better than his first three outings at Durham (11 IP, 10 ER, 19 H, 5 BB, 9 K).

Cobb is expected to start either Sept. 2 or 3. There was no immediate word as to whom Cobb might supplant, or whether the team might opt to use a six-man rotation.

However, Blake Snell (LHP, TAM), who might be approaching an innings limit to begin with, appears to need a break...
