PT TOMORROW: AL East—Pearson begins push for TOR rotation

The first spring outing of Nate Pearson (RHP, TOR), No. 18 on the HQ100 top prospects list, could hardly have gone better. Pearson struck out all three Yankees he faced on a total of 12 pitches. While one should not get carried away off such a short outing, the temptation to throw him into the deep end of the pool and see if he can swim may only grow if he can build on the outing.
Pearson scaled three levels in 2019, posting a combined 2.30 ERA and 0.89 WHIP with a 4.4 Cmd and 10.5 Dom in 101.2 IP. Of course, only 18 of those innings came in Triple-A, meaning a return to that level is likely in the offing as spring training wraps up.
