Last week in this space, Kris Olson suggested that Brock Holt and Mookie Betts might have trouble finding playing time in Boston on the far side of the trading deadline. While he didn't exactly know what was coming, the actual deadline events very much bear out Olson's concerns:

With Xander Bogaerts back at SS, Wil Middlebrooks activated to 3B, and the new pairing of Allen Craig and Yoenis Céspedes in the OF corners, Holt presumably falls back into a 10th man role. That, of course, is probably where he fits on this roster long-term anyway, and his versatility (at least four appearances at every position other than catcher) will ensure that he finds his way into the lineup nearly every day over the balance of the season,...
