Fewer players have opened eyes at Rays camp this spring more than Jake Bauers (OF, TAM).

He entered 2017 with the reputation with good patience and pitch recognition, but there was some question as to whether power would be ultimately be part of his profile.

With some tape-measurer shots in Grapefruit League (12-for-27, 4 HR), the 21-year-old is providing a tantalizing glimpse of a higher ceiling than perhaps previously envisioned.

Meanwhile, Bauers has continued to exhibit the type of plate patience for which he had become known (6 BB in 33 PA).

Given his age, Bauers will not be rushed to the majors, especially in an organization as service-time conscious as the Rays. As things stand, the team may struggle to find...
