PT TOMORROW: AL West—The LAA closer question

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Of the relievers that have seized ninth inning roles since the beginning of the season, Bud Norris (RHP, LAA) has been one of the more unlikely—but his performance to date hasn't taken a back seat to anyone's. Since taking over the job following Cam Bedrosian's trip to the DL (groin strain), Norris has converted nine of 10 save opportunities, including three multi-inning outings. An 11.8 Dom and 3.4 Ctl (backed up by a 62% FpK and 14% SwK) suggest there's nothing fluky about Norris' 2.66 ERA/2.91 xERA to date. He's eliminated his previous HR issues, and been consistent throughout. If anything, a rising GB% and velocity in May over April suggests that Norris may be getting better.
