So with the departures of both Ryan Madson and Sean Doolittle, who closes if Santiago Casilla (RHP, OAK) is unable to continue his dance on the edge of viability? Signed to a surprisingly hefty ($11m) two-year deal this past off-season by OAK following a horrible finish across the bay in SF, Casilla has been barely acceptable in the ninth-inning role, converting 16 of 21 save opportunities while posting a 3.93/4.42 ERA/xERA, none of which suggests role stability. The A's would love to move Casilla, but even the contenders needing relief help won't find this combination of numbers and salary particularly attractive.
