For the fourth time since being acquired by the Angels in early 2012, Ernesto Frieri (RHP, LAA), is out as LAA closer. As in the past, Frieri has gone through a week-plus stretch during which he has been unable to locate his fastball, a predicament compounded by opposing hitters siting on a pitch that he throws more than 80% of the time. It's happened again in April, as he's allowed 5 HR allowed in his first 11 2/3 IP. In the past, Frieri has eventually been able to rebound. And fortunately for his owners, LAA's long-time absence of a legitimate closing alternative has allowed Frieri get the job back, despite recording an unremarkable 3.80/3.47 ERA/xERA in 2013.
