An offense that has posted a .178/.240/.241 while plating just 13 runs over its first six contests misses Justin Upton (on the DL until June)—and is looking for a response to the five free passes already awarded to Mike Trout (.294/.480/.412 through 17 AB). The most glaring early season issue has been a lack of power, just one HR (from Kole Calhoun) to date, and a combined 5-for-37 performance from sluggers Albert Pujols (DH/1B, LAA) and Justin Bour (1B, LAA). Small sample to be sure, but an early disappointment in light of the two subpar opposing rotations (OAK and SEA) faced to date. And the down 2018 performances of Pujols and Bour still hint at 2019 opportunities for the taking.
