Following a horrendous 8.18/5.69 ERA/xERA and 1.82 WHIP in May, Fernando Rodney (RHP, SEA) effecitvely lost his closer role to Carson Smith (RHP, SEA) on June 6, when the SEA rookie picked up the first of his five saves. But now after a 2.79 ERA in June, Rodney was inserted into the ninth inning vs. LAA and converted his first save opportunity in almost a month, with Smith used in an eighth inning setup role. And afterward, Mgr Lloyd McLendon was quoted as saying, "My hope," McClendon said, "is Rodney becomes that lock-down ninth-inning guy again.
