A refrain reported across several media outlets this week was manager David Ross backing his struggling star players, most notably Javier Báez (SS,CHC). The rest of the lineup responded, smoking a combined 14 home runs across four games at Cincinnati over the weekend. Another key member of the Cubs’ core seemingly closing in on a return in Kris Bryant (3B/OF, CHC).
Manager David Ross has already indicated Bryant won’t return to the leadoff spot.
