Trade winds that continue to swirl around the Cubs’ starters— ESPN’s Buster Olney reported that the team’s tack may mirror last year, when it traded one starter (Scott Feldman) early and another (Matt Garza) closer to the deadline, with Jason Hammel (RHP, CHC) in the role of Feldman and Jeff Samardzija (RHP, CHC) in the role of Garza.

As a result, it is worth considering who may be waiting in the wings to fill any rotation slots that may open up.

Having the best season as a starter at AAA-Iowa is Tsuyoshi Wada (LHP, CHC), whom the Baltimore Orioles paid over $8 million to never throw a pitch in the majors in 2012 and 2013. Wada’s health has held thus far in 2014, and he has posted a 2.51 ERA with a 71/17 K/BB in 75 1/3 IP...
