When we checked in on the Cardinals crowded infield situation back in early April, Jedd Gyorko (2B/3B, STL) appeared to be the loser coming out of spring training in the playing time battle at 2B and 3B. Early on, however, Gyorko has seen plenty of time at both positions, even before third baseman Jhonny Peralta (3B, STL) landed on the DL on April 20 with a respiratory infection.

Gyorko has been one of the few bright spots offensively for the Cardinals in April, and he’s seen time in the cleanup spot over the past week thanks to his hot start. With Peralta expected to be out for another week, Gyorko has taken advantage of his early playing time. Peralta got off to a 3-for-25 start before he hit the disabled list and...
