The Cubs have utilized the last few weeks of the offseason to bolster their starting rotation, reuniting with Jake Arrieta (RHP, CHC) and signing former division-rival Trevor Williams (RHP, CHC). While neither acquisition changes the outlook of their season singlehandedly, it provides the club with depth and experience that they can rely upon with a full 162-game schedule on tap.
Beat writers and others who follow the team closely have recently suggested that similar additions to the bullpen may be the next move for the club. As currently constructed, Craig Kimbrel (RHP, CHC) will be the team’s closer in 2021 and that is likely to remain the case to begin the season.
