PT TOMORROW: NL Central—Baez closing in on return to majors

Javier Báez (2B, CHC) continues to crush the ball at Triple-A Iowa, with a .317/.382/.534 line in 262 at-bats. The 2015 season has been a challenging one for him, as he took a two-week leave of absence following the death of his sister, and later missed a month and a half with a broken finger. 

Baez showed impressive power during his time in the majors in 2014, blasting nine home runs with a 145 PX in 213 at-bats. He had an awful 55 percent contact rate, though, which led to a .169 batting average, and showed he needed more minor league seasoning. He has bumped up his contact rate a bit, from 66 percent at Iowa last year, to 72 percent this season.
