Tyler Chatwood (RHP, CHC) entered the All-Star break coming off of three consecutive PQS-DIS starts and lingering questions about how long the Cubs can stomach his continued wildness (7.8 Ctl) as they look to maintain their lead in the NL Central. Chatwood's 4.93 ERA is currently outpacing his 5.50 xERA, and while some of that could be attributable to good infield defense behind the sinker baller and his 55% GB%, his skill indicators don’t offer much hope. Through 17 starts, Chatwood has a -32 BPV, 52% FpK, and his fastball velocity is down 1.6 mph from 2017. A second straight season in which he shifts to the bullpen is a real possibility.
