A couple of off days allowed the team to skip the turn of Kyle Lohse (RHP, MIL) without much tinkering, and it's anticipated that he may start August 26, the next time a fifth starter is needed. He left after just three innings in his August 13 start due to a sore ankle, but the rest has reportedly done him some good.

Matt Garza (RHP, MIL), who is out with an oblique strain, is also making progress, and could return as soon as the first of September. It's not clear yet if he will embark on a rehab assignment, nor is it clear how deep he'll be able to go in games at that point. Manager Ron Roenicke noted that the extra bullpen arms that will be on hand when rosters expand could work to their advantage regarding Garza's...
