His ascent to the big leagues has been circuitous and long-awaited, as he first signed with a big league club in 2010 and hadn’t played in any professional system since 2014.    

However, after being dealt to the Cubs prior to the season, he quickly advanced through Double-A and Triple-A, combining to hit .285/.364/.594 across 291 plate appearances.
