While the product on the field in Cincinnati isn’t at its peak, the Reds have quickly replenished their talent at the top of their minor league system. We’re likely to see the benefits of that talent acquisition in 2023, though there’s a question about the order in which players will get an opportunity. Elly De La Cruz (SS, CIN) is the top prospect on the system per our scouting team, and he received an excellent 9C prospect grade as well as a comp to Oneil Cruz (SS, PIT) in the organizational report. After recording 207 plate appearances at Double-A Chattanooga in 2022, the Reds have opted to start de la Cruz at Triple-A Louisville this season.
