PT TOMORROW: NL Central—Mesoraco attempting to return as OFer

The team finally gave in and placed Devin Mesoraco (C, CIN) on the disabled list May 25, after he spent six weeks on the active roster without being able to catch. He made 13 appearances as a pinch-hitter and four as the team's designated hitter before he finally landed on the DL due to his left hip impingement. Manager Bryan Price indicated that the team can't afford for him to return as strictly a bench player, and it's rather doubtful he'll be able to get behind the plate again this season.

However, Mesoraco isn't going under the knife just yet, as the surgery would reportedly require about four months of rehabilitation, effectively ending his season. Instead, the plan is for him to work out in left field, and try to...
