With the Reds long out of the playoff hunt in the midst of yet another rebuilding season, the club has the opportunity to acquire players that could contribute to the next winning Reds team. Scooter Gennett (2B, CIN) is one obvious candidate for trade.

The news that Nick Senzel (2B/3B, CIN) will miss the rest of the season with a torn tendon in his finger means that the club would have to piece together a replacement plan at the keystone, rather than merely promoting Senzel, as was posited in June 23 PT Tomorrow. Alex Blandino (2B/3B, CIN) has had an underwhelming rookie season thus far with a 68% ct% and .216 BA/.189 xBA through 114 AB and would now be in line for a share of those at-bats if Gennett is traded.
