PT TOMORROW: NL Central—Suarez/Senzel give Reds bright future at 3B

Cincinnati Reds

Eugenio Suárez (3B, CIN) is coming off an August to remember, hitting for a 1.184 OPS. As Brian Rudd covered in Facts/Flukes in August, he’s established himself as a good power source at third base. Suarez could be an offseason trade candidate if the club wants to open up the position for top prospect Nick Senzel (3B, CIN). He also could potentially shift to shortstop, where he played 96 games for the Reds in 2015.

Senzel hit .340 with 10 HR in 209 AB in Double-A following a mid-year promotion from High-A. He has been shut down for the year due to vertigo, so he won’t be a September call-up. The number 14 prospect on the BaseballHQ Midseason Top 50 prospects list, he could contend for a roster spot next spring.
