It wasn’t particularly surprising to see the Pirates promote Henry Davis (C, PIT) last week given the way he was hitting in the minor leagues. What has been surprising is his usage in the majors, as he’s started every game in right field and has yet to appear at catcher. In the short term, that should create more fantasy value, as his volume will be significantly higher than most other catcher-eligible players. Looking forward to next year, there may be a legitimate concern that he doesn’t maintain his eligibility behind the plate, however.

Also interesting is what it seems to do for the team’s plans at catcher. Austin Hedges (C, PIT) has proven his value as a defender and likely has a role in some of the team’s over...
