PT TOMORROW: NL Central—Where does Baez fit into Cubs' plans?

Javier Báez (2B, CHC) began the season on the disabled list after he jammed his thumb sliding into first base during spring training. Manager Joe Maddon previously stated that Baez was expected to receive 20-25 at-bats on his rehab assignment before he was recalled, but after going 4 for 15 with a home run for Triple-A Iowa, he got the call a few days earlier than expected.

Barring an injury to one of the regulars, there's no clear path to playing time for Baez, but he will add even more versatility to the roster, and if nothing else, can move around and help give everyone an occasional day off. He can play all over the infield, has made a couple starts in left field on his rehab assignment, and as noted here several weeks...
