With the first glance at the back of the Phillies bullpen, all seems relatively well. Hector Neris (RHP, PHI) is the incumbent stopper, coming off a solid-but-unspectacular first season in the closer’s chair. Neris is 28 years old, was throwing 95 by the end of 2017, and possesses a knockout secondary pitch—a disappearing splitter that garnered swings and misses a full one-quarter of the time he threw it (25% SwK). It all led to a 26-save season with a 3.01/1.26 ERA/WHIP backed by a 3.1/10.4/3.3 Ctl/Dom/Cmd trio. Again, not elite—throwing more strikes would be a start, and his 44% FB% in Citizens Bank Park is sub-optimal—but enough to garner a 113 BPV worth $16 of roto value. He seems set up for a good 2018...
