With Dillon Gee (RHP, NYM) hitting the disabled list on May 8 with a groin strain, the Mets have promoted their top prospect, Noah Syndergaard (RHP, NYM), to take his spot in the rotation. Syndergaard will make his major league debut on May 12.

Syndergaard has pitched extremely well with Triple-A Las Vegas so far this season (1.82 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, 10.3 Dom and 2.4 Ctl in 29.2 IP). Steven Matz (LHP, NYM), the team’s fourth best prospect according to BaseballHQ.com, also reportedly received consideration for the gig, but the difference in experience was a key determining factor. Unlike Syndergaard, who spent 2014 at Triple-A, Matz entered 2015 with just 71 IP above Single-A and 2015 is his first taste of Triple-A. Though not...
