Jay Bruce (1B/OF, NYM) has been manning first base since Lucas Duda (1B, NYM) hit the disabled list April 20 with a hyperextended left elbow. That, along with a left hamstring injury to Yoenis Céspedes (OF, NYM), has opened up lots of playing time for Michael Conforto (OF, NYM). Conforto has made the most of his opportunity, slashing .313/.400/.625 with 3 HR in 32 AB and providing a much-needed boost to the offense. It’s also worth noting that Conforto has found himself in the leadoff spot in three of the team’s last five games, and he has performed well there.
