With the August 1 non-waiver trade deadline approaching, Jeremy Hellickson (RHP, PHI) is rumored to be drawing interest from several teams. While it remains to be seen whether or not he will actually be dealt, now is the time to look ahead at who might replace him in the Phillies starting rotation.

We suggested last month that Jake Thompson (RHP, PHI) had positioned himself to receive strong consideration whenever a need arose. At this point, it seems a safe bet that he would be the top choice. The 22-year-old made a mechanical adjustment following a rough outing with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on May 31 (3.2 IP, 9 H, 6 ER, 3 BB, 5 K) and he has been on a roll ever since, compiling a 0.73 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in 49.1 IP...
