After years of playoff futility, the Washington Nationals finally reached the promised land in 2019. For a city that hadn't seen a World Series victory since the 1924 Senators—and for a franchise that had the best record in baseball in 1994 only to have that season canceled by the players’ strike—defeating the favored Houston Astros was met with equal parts revelry and relief.
