Well, not exactly “clamoring,” but there is definitely a contingent of the fan base that wants to see how the 26-year-old can help their home team’s unproductive lineup. But management has thus far refused to grant their followers’ wishes, citing that McNeil is primarily a second baseman and the team already has Asdrúbal Cabrera (2B, NYM) capably filling that position. Shrewd fantasy owners will know that the excuses brought forth by Mets’ management are hogwash. McNeil has appeared in 149 minor league games at third base and 37 contests at shortstop.
