The Mets could wind up having an extremely interesting offseason. Neil Walker (2B, NYM) will be a free agent at season’s end and Yoenis Céspedes (OF, NYM) can opt-out of his contract, if he chooses to do so. Jay Bruce (OF, NYM) has a $13 million club option for 2017 that can be bought out for $1 million. What might the Mets do?

Retaining Walker became an even bigger issue when Dilson Herrera (2B, CIN) was traded to Cincinnati Reds for the aforementioned Bruce. Walker’s recent decision to have surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back complicates things a bit. However, he is expected to be fully recovered by the time spring training begins.
