Updating last week’s coverage of the first base situation, the Mets acquired James Loney (1B, NYM) from the Padres on May 28. Loney had put together a .342/.373/.424 slash line with 2 HR in 158 AB with Triple-A El Paso. The 32-year-old still can still put the bat on the ball, but his HctX and xPX both reached all-time lows in 2015, 75 and 40, respectively. Though the left-handed batter can still do a passable job against right-handed pitching, he owns a lifetime .653 OPS in 1,212 AB vs. same-sided pitching and has posted an OPS of .601 or lower vs. LHP in five of the past six seasons. With that in mind, he is expected to platoon with Wilmer Flores (1B/2B/SS/3B, NYM) while Lucas Duda (1B, NYM) is on the shelf with a stress...
