PT TOMORROW: NL East—Phillies expected to seek SP this winter

The starting rotation, outside of Aaron Nola (RHP, PHI), has been an unmitigated disaster. As a group, the team’s starting pitchers, Nola excluded, have combined for a 5.15 ERA and averaged just 5.1 IP per start in 112 GS. As a result, the team will undoubtedly aim to acquire at least one young controllable frontline starter this winter and may wind up adding a couple proven starters to the mix.

Jerad Eickhoff (RHP, PHI) posted a disappointing 4.71 ERA in 128 IP before landing on the 60-day disabled list with nerve irritation in his right hand.  If healthy, he and Vince Velasquez (RHP, PHI), who also had his 2017 season cut short due to injury, would be leading candidates to claim rotation jobs in 2018.
