In the wake of stunning news that as many as 15 Marlins players have tested positive for COVID-19 as of July 28, let’s take off our fantasy hats for a second and really let that sink in. A blistering outbreak is raging among the team and its staff, forcing them to pause their season. This is terrible news for those individuals, as well as their families and all of the people who may have come into contact with them over the past week—including ballplayers on opposing teams (the Phillies had just completed a series with the Marlins, and the Braves had hosted them at the end of summer camp). In spite of what MLB commissioner Rob Manfred might have said, this clearly is the nightmare scenario that everyone had hoped to avoid...
