Nationals manager Davey Martinez needed a spot starter for June 23 and called upon unheralded starting pitcher Austin Voth (RHP, WAS). The 27-year-old was up to the task, delivering a tidy 6 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 HR, 0 BB, 7 K. What could we expect from Voth if he were called upon again to fill a more permanent vacancy?

Voth had a cup of coffee with Washington last year and failed to impress in his first taste of MLB action: 12.1 IP, 12 H, 9 ER, 3 HR, 6 BB, 11 K. He started the 2019 season in Triple-A—his fourth year at the level—and has produced what appears to be yet another lemon: 3 W, 5 L, 4.40 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, 15 BB, 68 K in 61.1 IP. However, when we peel that lemon, what we find is some pleasantly tangy pulp.
