PT TOMORROW: NL East—Will Velasquez be the 5th SP in PHI?

Since we last discussed the starting rotation back on Feb. 16, there has been quite a bit of news. The candidates for the fifth starter spot have been narrowed down to two: Vincent Velasquez (RHP, PHI) and Adam Morgan (LHP, PHI), as Brett Oberholtzer (LHP, PHI) has been shifted to the bullpen.

Velasquez, who was acquired in the Ken Giles (RHP, HOU) trade, entered spring training as the favorite for the job. He has been very impressive this spring, allowing just five earned runs and four walks while fanning 16 in 14 innings. The 24-year-old logged just 88.2 IP in 2015, so the team will no doubt monitor his workload this year, but he possesses a great deal of upside.
