Ryan Zimmerman (1B, WAS) recently revealed that he has been bothered by plantar fasciitis in his left foot. He reportedly sleeps with a splint on the foot and has been using ice and anti-inflammatory medication to help him deal with the issue. He has started all 18 of the team’s games, but the injury has clearly hampered him, particularly when running. Though this has been described by the parties involved as “mild,” it would seem to be the type of ailment that could linger for quite a while.  If Zimmerman is forced to miss time, who might play in his stead?
