The move is certain to push Edwin Ríos (3B, LA) to the bench, leaving a promising peripheral profile (146 HctX, 212 PX, 93 BPV across 139 major-league plate appearances) without playing time. More ambiguous is the potential role for once-top prospect Gavin Lux (2B, LA). In order to find every day at-bats for Lux, the team would have to shuffle defensive positioning and remove one of Max Muncy (1B/2B/3B, LA), Chris Taylor (2B/OF, LA), or A.J. Pollock (OF, LA) from the lineup. Given the level of play that each has maintained across the last several seasons and the Dodgers clear desire to defend their World Series title, it appears unlikely...
