The playing time split at shortstop in Arizona has quickly become one-sided. Geraldo Perdomo (SS, ARI) is in the midst of perhaps the quietest breakout season around the league. While there’s a fairly significant gap between his skills (82 ct%, 118 PX, 79 HctX) and results (.971 OPS), Perdomo has far out-performed Nick Ahmed (SS, ARI) and has taken over the large-side platoon role at the position. We should expect that to continue to the end of the current season based on both production and the fact that Nick Ahmed is set to become a free agent; he doesn’t figure to fit into the team’s plans beyond 2023.
