The Padres struggled to field a consistent starting rotation in 2022, and they seemed to learn their lesson by adding significant depth to their pitching staff this offseason. So far, that’s paid dividends. Seth Lugo (RHP, SD) seems to have taken well from his shift away from the bullpen and into a starting role, as he’s worked six and seven innings in his first two starts respectively while maintaining a 12:4 K:BB. Barring a drastic change, he certainly appears to have a set role even upon the return of Joe Musgrove (RHP, SD).
