Opening Day catcher Austin Hedges (C, SD) has had something of a start-and-stop season behind the plate for the Padres. With some offseason buzz about his reworked swing potentially leading to an uptick in power, Hedges was a popular late-round target in two-catcher leagues. But he missed roughly two months (May/June) with an elbow injury, hitting just .176 (.177 xBA) with 2 HR prior to hitting the DL. He has been much better since his return, smacking 9 HR in just 143 at-bats since July 1, during which time he’s hit .273 (.249 xBA).
