PT TOMORROW: NL West—Cain, Peavy struggling by the Bay

San Francisco Giants

San Francisco's top rotation trio of Madison Bumgarner (LHP, SF), Johnny Cueto (RHP, SF), and Jeff Samardzija (RHP, SF) has performed relatively well this year, but the back end has been a disaster. Matt Cain (RHP, SF) and Jake Peavy (RHP, SF) have failed to register a PQS-DOMinant start through their first 11 combined outings, with only one PQS-3 from Peavy vs. MIA on April 23. Peavy's velocity has dropped from 90.2 mph in 2015 to just 88.9 this season, while his 4.99 xERA and 64 BPV offer little comfort he can turn it around. The same can be said for Cain, who has put up mediocre skills through five starts: 21/9 K/BB, 4.64 xERA, 55 BPV.

Given the early struggles and extensive injury history of each arm, it's more...
