PT TOMORROW: NL West—Cashner, Erlin on the comeback trail

Robert Erlin (LHP, SD) made his first rehab start with the club's Arizona League squad earlier this week. Erlin, who has been out since late May (elbow), threw just two innings, but did not report any problems after the outing. Erlin's impressive skills earlier this season (3.5 Cmd, 3.84 xERA, 93 BPV in nine games) make his rehab worth monitoring down the stretch as he could be a sneaky pickup in late August for the rest of the season. His 4.53 surface ERA in 2014 likely has him off most owners' radars.

Erlin's return could come around around the same time as Andrew Cashner (RHP, SD), who is now throwing bullpen sessions and hopes to make a rehab start or two before returning in August. Cashner has an elite 2.36 ERA...
