PT TOMORROW: NL West—Chasing Chihuahuas

San Diego Padres

San Diego's infield has been decimated by injuries in the early going, as Opening Day starters Yangervis Solarte (3B, SD) and Cory Spangenberg (2B, SD) both hit the DL in April. Spangenberg's replacement at second base, Alexi Amarista (SS, SD), joined the club with a hamstring injury, which led our Playing Time Today gang to note that Jemile Weeks (2B, SD) will take over regular duties in the interim. Weeks' surprising breakout this spring was rewarded with a roster spot, but he hasn't put together meaningful MLB skills since 2012 and is off to a 4-for-21 start.

Solarte and Spangenberg are not expected to be out long, but help may be lurking in Triple-A should SD need it. Carlos Asuaje (2B, SD) is off to a strong start...

Almost!
