PT TOMORROW: NL West—Desmond should be arriving directly

That the Rockies were an NL-best 14-6 through their first 20 games is in and of itself impressive—but when considering the injuries they had to overcome to get there, it’s downright mind-boggling. And the future is looking up, as offseason acquisition Ian Desmond (OF, COL) got the medical green light to take live batting practice, and he’s been seen taking grounders at 1B (as expected) but also shagging balls in the OF, which is fairly revealing. After hitting .285 with 22 HR and 21 SB for TEX in 2016, not to mention his 5-year/$70MM deal, Desmond should begin seeing regular AB in the very near future.

Desmond’s return will create a crunch from a playing time standpoint, as Mark Reynolds (1B, COL) and Gerardo Parra...
