On MLB's deepest club, having a designated hitter spot in the lineup lifts a lot of boats just a tad. Entering February, Joc Pederson (OF, LA) seemed entrenched in a strong-side platoon LF role (36 HR, .920 OPS over 401 AB vR in 2019; career .187 BA vL). But after struggling all spring with hip issues, Pederson now projects to get at least some of that time at the DH spot as part of the club's efforts to keep him healthy. His LF partner oft-injured A.J. Pollock (OF, LA) should pick up a few more plate appearances vR. But along with his own durability issues, Pollock's suspect glove and LA's depth could put a cap on these, and even put him in contention for DH AB.
