We’ve spent the last few editions of this column providing an overview of some key questions for the Padres’ lineup in 2023, but there will likely be some turnover in the rotation as well. Yu Darvish (RHP, SD), Joe Musgrove (RHP, SD), and Blake Snell (LHP, SD) all remain under contract for 2023 and will almost certainly be in the starting five so long as they remain healthy. On the other hand, Mike Clevinger (RHP, SD) and Sean Manaea (LHP, SD) are set to hit free agency. For much of the season, Clevinger was fairly effective. However, his skills and results have slipped significantly in the second half (10 K-BB%, 2.0 HR/9, 4.97 xERA). That could be enough to thrust his status with the team into question. The fate of...
