The Giants continue their surge in the NL West, thanks in part to an improved staff that has pitched to a combined 3.96 ERA (9th in MLB) since June 1.

Tyler Beede (RHP, SF) looks like he could be taking a long-awaited step forward, putting together his first real run of success at the MLB level, with a three-game stretch in which he allowed a mere 4 ER while walking just 1 in 21.7 innings. Beede had been flashing some impressive numbers at Triple-A this season, with a 2.34 ERA and 49/14 K/BB in 35 IP, and his ~94 mph velocity is almost a full two ticks up from last year.
