PT TOMORROW: NL West—Giants rotation staying afloat ... for now

San Francisco Giants

The Giants continue to forge forward without ace Madison Bumgarner (LHP, SF), who despite throwing from 60 feet likely remains on the shelf until mid-July. And for the back end of the staff, things haven’t been too bad—on the surface. Matt Cain (RHP, SF) has 3 Wins and a not-terrible 4.45 ERA, having allowed 2 or fewer runs in 7 of his 10 starts. But warning signs abound, starting with his 5.12 xERA, backed by career worsts in Dom (5.9), Cmd (1.5) and SwK (6%). On top of that, his velocity has dipped below 90 mph for the first time in his career, suggesting it won’t be long until the results come back to meet the skills.

Bumgarner’s replacement, Ty Blach (LHP, SF), has been enjoying a nice stat line on the surface...
